The organization, which supports journalists in this field, publishes a collection of 100 photographs of the great American photographer.
For the new album in your collection 100 photos for press freedom, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) chose America Elliott Erwitt and sometimes funny images of people and dogs around the world. This album, the 74th album of the collection, will be available at newsstands and bookstores starting from Thursday at a price of 12.50 euros and also in the RSF online store.
Anonymous black and white people on the streets of New York, Barcelona or on the beach in Rio de Janeiro are filled with photographs of Marilyn Monroe reading a book or Arnold Schwarzenegger as a young bodybuilder and the photographer saying “people with more hair“.
Born in France in 1928 to Russian immigrant parents, Elliott Erwitt grew up in Italy before immigrating to the United States on the eve of World War II. He has been a resident of New York for decades. He returned to the Magnum agency in 1953 and worked as a photojournalist in the important illustrated press magazines of the 1950s and 1960s. RSF album sales represent 30% of the association’s annual budget.
RSF, which has consultancy status at the UN and UNESCO and is headquartered in Paris, has 12 offices worldwide and correspondents in 130 countries. It concretely supports journalists in the field through mobilization campaigns, legal and financial assistance, physical safety devices and tools (bulletproof vests, helmets, practical guides and insurance) and digital protection (digital safety workshops).
